MTMD Page Rank Olympics Winners Divulged!

The fierce battle on the Page Rank Olympics drew to a close and the winners were disclosed by Matt of MTMD. I joined this contest for fun in 8/8/08 just as the Beijing Olympics commenced. It's great to know that a blogger friend's blog, Blessings and Beyond made it and won $ 100 cash. Congrats, Mommy Ruby!
You can view the complete results of the contest HERE.
Surprisingly, this blog placed sixth with a beginning Page Rank of 0 and after two weeks of holding such contest, this blog still is PR-less, haha! My beginning Technorati Authority is 259 ending in 262 with a net increase of 3. Not bad, huh! At least, there was an increase, hehe!
My sincerest congratulations to all the winners who won $ 100, $50 and $ 25 for the first, second and third place respectively. And to Matt who made this contest possible, my deepest gratitude for allowing me to join. I had fun!

WANTED: Steady Girlfriend!

Yes! You heard it right!
And it's a serious quest for a steady gilfriend who can be wife material for a very good friend of mine whom I knew since we were eight (8) years old. I was surprised because he had transformed from a nonchalant persona into a responsible man. Indeed, it made him all the more pleasant.
This post may sound a little desperate but my friend believes that it could be a great idea. Mind you, I have his permission! Who knows? The girl of his dreams may just be around the blogosphere, hehe! But I know for certain that there are no dream girls, only compatible partners.
This friend of mine named Neil is in a serious quest for a girlfriend. He has girlfriends in the past but didn't last for long. It's because of the nature of his work which requires his absence for longer period of time.
He travels the world and crosses miles and miles of seas. That's what he does for a living.
Ooops! I know what you must be thinking- Every place replace, every port deport!?
I am asking you not to be too quick to pass on your judgment. My friend has grown matured over the years. When he was a lot younger, maybe that has been the case, but experience have taught him a few lessons.
I admire him for being so kindhearted. He never fails to extend a helping hand to friends. I can still vividly recall when he made the offer of backing me up financially whenever I decide to work overseas. He also offered to lend me money for a show in case I apply for a tourist visa for Australia. I am not the only friend he has extended his help with. It's a pity though that his kindness was more often abused. He's the type who offers his help even before you cry out for help.
His love for his Mom was made evident when he assumed the role of looking after his Mom's health everytime he comes home. Not too many single man would do that. Men would always love to portray a macho image of themselves, therefore doing away from that "mama's boy image".
Not my friend.
He possessess a very good outlook in life, sensible, has a sense of future. He certainly deserves all the blessings that he is enjoying now because he worked hard for all of these.
He deserves to be happy. I know someone out there deserves his love and she shall come in God's own perfect timing. I have been telling him that a good spouse comes from the Father and he should not cease asking from Him.
If you know someone or if you think you are that someone (hehe!) that my friend is looking for, please do not hesitate to leave me a message in my comment section.
Below are some photos of him:

Mesothelioma: A Form of Cancer

My aunt died of lung cancer in October of last year. We thought everything was fine not until signs of recurrence manifested in March. Her passing was painful especially to her immediate family. Her daughters are only 11 years and 14 years young respectively.
Everytime I get to hear stories of cancer patients, I always get curious. When I heard of mesothelioma, I learned that it's also a form of cancer caused by too much exposure to asbestos. Not too common, huh. Patients that have been diagnosed with this disease can opt to undergo treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radio therapy.

19 Qualified Opps for Me: Whaaaaat???

When I checked on triple P early morning today, I was quite amazed on the number of opportunities that I am qualified to take. There were actually 19 of them, all in grey and all of them amounting to $10, minimum of 100 words. Not bad, huh?
As you well know it, I am a bit lazy and impatient waiting for the opportunities to turn white or green. So I let my blogger friends know there have been quite a number of them.
When I told Ate Bing, she said there was no available opportunity for her. When I've informed Twerlyn, there was none, too. Twerlyn told me I was one of the lucky few to be offered that huge number. She even said it's a "miracle"! Hahaha!
Almost a miracle but not quite. Unluckily, I wasn't able to catch any of them. Blame my laziness and impatience. I am hoping these oops will be offered to me without me having a hard time chasing them.
As of this writing, there are still 10 opportunities waiting to be taken.

I Want a Laptop!

One of the reasons why I have decided not to go with my family out of town is because I don't want to miss blogging, hehe! It should not have been the case had I own a laptop where I can bring anywhere with me day in and day out. I am thinking of saving enough money for me to be able to purchase one in the future. I still do not know how to choose a good one but I am sure laptop memory plays a vital role.
I hope next year I could have my own laptop. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I Thank God for My Prince!

I am left all alone here today at home until tomorrow because my entire family were off to Davao City for the 2nd Muzika del Sur Mindanao Music Awards. My brother's band, KUERDAS, was again nominated for the Best Ragga Artist category. They weren't hoping to get the award but the organizers gave them one important slot to showcase their brand of music.
I feel so alone without my brothers to bother me and my mother to nag at me. My Prince already knew the night before that I have no one to keep me company today and I'm bored to death without him to talk to. He sent me SMS earlier today that we shall be getting online a little early in the day.
Thank God!
He's my one true angel that constantly lifts my spirit up and he never fails to cheer me up as well! I can just imagine a future so bleak without him in my life. But he would always remind me I don't have to imagine a life without him in it because we sure will have a future together... forever!
Coming from him, I know they are not just words. Those are enough reassurance for me to go to bed tonight with dreamy, dreamy eyes and a smile in my face ;-)

Choose the Best Web Host

I started out my blogging activities with only this blog to boot via a free hosting blog site. Later, I have realized that getting my own would do me good. When it worked for me, I decided to get another one and later administered my brother's domain. That makes it three blogs all in all.
When I took blogging seriously, I did not think twice in getting a domain for my three blogs. This blog, Lainy's Musings and Kuerdas got their domain names from the best web host online with an A web hosting rating. Thanks to Joliber!
I got my own domain, alright!
But the blog themes wouldn't be as good as this if not for a beautiful angel that came down from heaven to do wonders for my blogs. Thanks Pretty Ivy! She did all the tweakings and now my blogs are sporting this very hottie chick look, hehe! I am all hats off!
I know some friends who haven't got their own domains as of yet. I am encouraging you not to wait for another day before you get one. Not only will you get more opportunities online (that means more moolah, hehe!) but also you can get to choose your own name for your blog.

EntreCard Outage

When I got home from the salon today, I'd planned on dropping cards to 900 blogs (for my 3 blogs). It has been a habit that's too hard to break. Actually, that has been my normal routine since I took dropping cards religiously. When I was about to start with my dropping chores, I got too surprised when I received the following messages:

Outage: Scheduled outage for two hours from 4am Boston time (click for more timezones) to do some database optimization. We'll be back as soon as we can!

I wasn't able to receive any notification in my mailbox that they had a scheduled power outage today. Did you? The power outage here in the Philippines is scheduled at 4Pm and will resume at 6PM. Had I known it beforehand, I wouldn't have gone to the salon, hahaha!

But it's ok.

I will have to resume my dropping habits at 6PM tonight. More drops coming your way soon!

Captured Moments

I was tweaking on some photos today while waiting for Entrecard's power to resume. While I was doing the tweaks, I came across Roxio online and decided to have it a try. The photos I have just uploaded were from that of family gatherings and just some photos of me and my Prince.
I have always loved creating slideshows of different photos of me, my family and friends, and of course, photos of my Prince. I have vast collections of them. I have tried doing them from different websites but I think Roxio online is a lot better. I'm hooked to doing more slideshows from here! I will be doing more of this from now on.
Why not give it a try yourself?

I Got Myself Pampered!

At the age of 28, I have never been an outgoing person. My world has practically revolved around home, work, church, my blogs and my Prince. I do go out sometimes with friends but since they have been out of GenSan for quite sometime, I only take time to go out when my groovy mother would ask me to accompany her to watch Kuerdas perform. I am telling you, she is a great stage mother!
Well today, my routine has deviated a little from the usual weekends. Since I had my hair permed two years ago, I have always been wondering on how I could get its life back. The hair dryness is just too annoying! I don't want to be so desperate by undergoing hair rebonding. I want to give back the life of my hair, and not to take more life from it. Besides, it's too expensive I just couldn't afford, hehe!
I just realized how I have taken myself for granted for quite sometime. I have never been to a salon in ages! I'm just glad I went there today and had my nails and my hair done. I took a bolder move in choosing a much freaky color for my nails, hehe! It's bloody red!
My first time.
I would usually opt for french tip and light colors but I just don't know what got into me today, hehe! My hair underwent some treatment. Actually, they have recommended many other treatments, but I only prefer hot oil, hair wax and hair cellophane. I chose the last one.
I was satisfied with the result.

Friday Photoshoot

All work and no play makes Lainy a dull girl!
We are paid by Filipinos to work, alright! But the digicam brought by one of our volunteers at work was a temptation. Being the camwhore that we are, we just can't let the moment pass. We took different shots from different angles. We felt like we were models of some magazine you have never heard of just yet, hehe!
Now you will be able to see how ugly the work place I am reporting for duty at, Mondays to Fridays, 8am till 5pm (I'm more often late though, haha!). The Philippine government must do something to make it more conducive for work.
I personally think that working in a dilapidated building is no place for a National Government Agency. Upgrading government's productivity, efficiency and output-oriented governance is what we want to achieve. But the stinking building and crawling insects you see everyday would just sometimes destruct you from achieving what you want. We have been very busy at work, you may believe me or not. But of course, I wouldn't want to show off how stressed and ugly we look when facing the camera, hehe!
I would love to show off though one of the pair of shoes I've bought from Ukay-Ukay, hahaha!

How to Master Your Pick-Up Line and Flirting Abilities

I could still vividly recall one incident when me and my co-worker, together with my groovy mother, went out to watch Kuerdas (my brother's band) perform. We were trying to get a drink when out of the blue, two boys approached my officemate and asked for my name because, according to them. I looked a little familiar. My friend and I have one common policy: We do not talk to strangers. They looked like they were a little drunk and so I told my friend to be a little cautious of whatever words she hurl at them. The guys kept chatting with my co-worker and I got too surprised when one of the guys courageously asked for my phone number. The nerve! I don't even know him! I told him I do not own any cellphone. They backed off after issuing a casual nonchalant answer.
Things could have been a lot different if the guys have that Victory Hair. My friend always has a fancy for shiny and beautiful hair especially with guys. Not too many possess that gorgeous hair in men. Further, if they were able to master their pick-up line, well, it could be another story, hehe!
If ever I get to meet these guys again, I would highly recommend they try to check out the Ultimate Flirting Championship, sponsored by Extreme Style by VO5. After learning the basics in flirting, I am sure the species from the opposite sex will come swooning after them!

Hoping for the Best

A very good blogger friend of mine, Kuya Jessie of What Have You blog is again experiencing the tough time of his life. Ilocos Region has always been devastated by typhoons and this time, another typhoon (Karen) has wreck havoc in Kuya Jessie's place yet again.
When he sent me SMS yesterday informing me that they are experiencing typhoon signal no. 2 the day before yesterday and typhoon signal no. 3 for yesterday, I got a little worried for his safety and his family. As of this time, they still got no electricity and no internet connection.
I hope life will get back to normal soon for Kuya Jessie as he has lost already some money for not going active online. More than the lost opportunities, I am praying for his family's safety.
I would also like to wish a co-blogger the best of everything. He needs our sincerest prayers. He is currently suffering from cancer and his health is deteriorating. He coudn't anymore update his blog. I felt so down when I visited his blog over the weekend and found out I couldn't get there anymore. I thought it was just my connection (again!). But a few more tries and I got an advisory telling everyone that he is suffering from a terminal illness. I felt devastated. I will be missing his very informative articles. I am praying for his speedy recovery.
